OpenAI Buys Buzzworthy Tech Talk Show

Is AI ready to be a guest on its own talk show? πŸ€–πŸ‘©β€πŸ’»

OpenAI, the artificial intelligence powerhouse, has acquired TBPNβ€”a popular tech industry talk show. The acquisition marks OpenAI's first foray into media, with the show reporting directly to Chris Lehane, known for his political acumen.

The daily live YouTube and X stream features former tech founders John Coogan and Jordi Hays, hosting candid discussions on tech, business, AI, and defence. Despite its cult following in Silicon Valley, TBPN will retain its editorial independence, at least for now.

OpenAI sees the acquisition as a way to bring AI closer to people’s daily lives, while also leveraging TBPN's established brand and audience. The show’s founders hope it will move beyond commentary, aiming for real impact in how technology is distributed and understood globally.

The deal raises questions about media consolidation and the role of tech giants in shaping public discourse. After all, OpenAI is on the brink of an IPO and has a history of navigating controversial policies.
