Slate Auto, the electric vehicle (EV) company backed by Jeff Bezos, has unveiled an innovative partnership with Crayola to offer customers a more vibrant range of custom wraps for their EV trucks. The collaboration introduces five new wraps featuring signature Crayola colors: Cerulean, Fern, Jersey Tomato, Razzmatazz and Dandelion. Each wrap comes at an additional cost of $1,549.99, but Slate is also including a matching Crayola key fob and custom art pieces called 'Slatelets,' which can be attached to the dashboard for those who choose a crayon-colored vehicle.
This marks Crayola's first automotive partnership, highlighting the potential of such collaborations in combining creativity with practicality. Slate's CEO emphasizes that the company is open to more design partnerships, suggesting that future wraps could feature designs from other creators as well. The EV startup has taken a unique approach by offering a base vehicle at $24,950, which can be customized through various accessories and paint-free vinyl wraps.
While Slate Auto remains a newcomer in the automotive industry, emerging from stealth just last year, they have already attracted attention with their focus on simplicity and customization. Their first deliveries are set to begin this month for those who preordered the base two-seat truck model, which can be upgraded to a five-seater SUV at a higher price of $29,950.
This partnership between an established tech entrepreneur and a time-honored crayon brand might just bring a fresh perspective to the automotive world, proving that even electric trucks can benefit from a bit of crayon magic. It's a colorful way to make vehicles stand out on the road while keeping environmental concerns in mind.
