A new app called HyperTexting aims to make exploring the web as easy as scrolling through social media. Created by tech veteran Caleb Hailey, the app seeks to return control to users, making it simple to follow personal websites and news outlets in a familiar format.
Hailey was inspired after seeing Twitter's decline and its shift towards an algorithmic timeline, which he found detrimental to user experience. He believes that RSS could be more widely used if presented through a modern feed-like interface.
The app leverages RSS under the hood but promotes it subtly. Users can follow any website or blog with just a click and enjoy a scrollytelling experience without ads, much like social media feeds. It even includes an 'Explore' section to discover trending content across the web.
Hailey argues that the greatest decentralized social network is already here: the World Wide Web itself. HyperTexting aims to utilise this existing ecosystem rather than creating a new platform from scratch.
