Since WIRED reported on TAG Heuer's revamp of the classic Formula 1 series, watch enthusiasts have been eagerly awaiting a particular model to receive this new larger and solar-powered makeover. Enter the iconic bright orange 373.513, which, although not from the very first three-watch release in 1986, marked the introduction of metal cases for F1 models.

Joining TAG's 2025 relaunch of the series, the 38 mm Zandvoort solar F1 retains many original design elements. Like its predecessors, it comes on either an orange rubber strap or a steel bracelet; however, the new bracelet is a three-row sand-blasted affair rather than the original five-row version.

The grey opalin dial and the design on the orange rubber strap that mirrors the TAG logo are retained from the 1980s versions. However, unlike in the 80s F1 rubber straps, V-shaped grooves have been omitted to prevent cutting of the new rubber straps, given their more robust nature.

Originally designed for American surfers and divers in the 80s, the bright colours were key to the collection's appeal. The case was made from a mixture of fiberglass and plastic, with TAG opting for bioplastic—TH-Polylight—as an eco-friendly alternative that is molded over a steel inner core.

The new F1 Solargraph orange rubber strap model is limited to 1,500 pieces, while only 1,000 are available on the bracelet, both of which will be exclusive online. Watch enthusiasts can sign up now for notification when they become available next week.
