Zuckerberg’s Instagzam: A Logo Redesign Gone Wild

Is this a sign that even Zuck can’t escape the redesign curse?

Instagram, once known for its iconic wordmark, has undergone yet another makeover. The new logo looks so alien it might be from an alternate universe, and no one knows why they decided to scrap the old version in favor of this one.

In a move that could only come from Meta’s headquarters, David and Nilay of The Vergecast ponder whether redesigning everything is just an executive tic. They bring up whether new is always better, or if sometimes leaving well enough alone might be the way to go.

The episode also delves into Mark Zuckerberg’s manifesto on AI, which centers around the idea that technology should be shared with everyone for the betterment of all. One can only wonder what Zuckerberg sees in his daily Facebook feed that makes him so confident about this thesis.

Other topics include new ways to watermark AI text, Apple’s reality check, Spotify’s crackdown on AI artists and a bit of chaos in the guitar industry. The episode wraps up with a lightning round featuring chatbots, Google Pixels and robot lawnmowers.
