Fairphone, the company known for its sustainable and repair-friendly devices, has expanded its reach with the launch of its latest smartphone, Fairphone (Gen 6+), in the U.S. Priced at $649, it aims to provide a viable alternative to traditional gadgets with its durable design.

The device, powered by Qualcomm’s midrange Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor and featuring 12GB of RAM, is an attractive proposition for those wary of the current gadget price hikes. With a 4,415 mAh battery supporting fast charging, and a 6.31 LTPO OLED display with adaptive refresh rates up to 120 Hz, it’s geared towards everyday use.

However, some may find its two-camera setup lacking, particularly the ultrawide secondary camera over a telephoto lens for a more versatile dual-lens configuration. Nevertheless, the main selling point is the replaceable parts – including the battery and cameras – which can be swapped using just one screwdriver. Five years of warranty and software support until 2033 add to its appeal.

Additionally, Fairphone highlights its commitment to sustainability in manufacturing, claiming a carbon footprint reduction per phone to 30 kg CO2e. The device is available in Forest Green, Horizon Black, and Cobalt Blue, with accessories like finger loops and lanyards also on offer for added convenience.
