Meta’s new Mac app lets you chat with your apps

Is this the dawn of a world where your software has personality? Let's hope it’s not too annoying.

Meta has unveiled a new Mac application that promises to make interactions between users and their applications more conversational. The app, which leverages Meta AI's Muse Spark model, can understand what you're doing on screen and answer your queries based on the context.

The dictation feature works seamlessly across all applications, much like other tools such as Wispr Flow and Superwhisper. This update is part of a broader strategy to integrate AI into business tools, allowing users to connect their Instagram and Facebook accounts with Meta ad campaigns and Google Workspace for enhanced insights and automation.

With this new integration, the AI assistant can provide detailed analyses on campaign performance and audience engagement metrics, helping businesses understand which posts are performing best. It also offers intelligence on competitors based on publicly available data, making it a powerful tool for strategic decision-making.

The potential applications extend beyond just businesses; Meta AI can now create proposal decks, draft documents, and even fill in spreadsheets. As CEO Mark Zuckerberg hinted at during the Q2 2026 earnings call, there's huge potential to automate customer support and inquiries across platforms like WhatsApp and Instagram.

The release of this app marks a step towards more intuitive user experiences, but only time will tell if it becomes as indispensable as Meta hopes. For now, let’s see how well these applications understand our every move—or misstep.
