Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has expanded his property portfolio with the acquisition of Strancally Castle, an impressive Irish estate complete with 440 acres of land. The 16,000-square-foot castle was constructed around 1830 for a Tory MP and had been restored by its previous owners, Michael Alen-Buckley and Giancarla.

Zuckerberg is not alone in his love for grand properties; he reportedly owns more than 11 other estates across the United States. According to Brian Baker, a spokesperson for Zuckerberg, ‘Mark and his family look forward to caring for this historic home and visiting when traveling to Ireland, where Meta maintains its international headquarters.’

The exact price of the castle is unclear, but it is estimated that the family paid somewhere between €20 million and €30 million. Despite this lavish purchase, Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan will still reside in the US.

While some may see this as another sign of the tech mogul’s wealth, others might wonder if he has found a way to escape Silicon Valley for a bit. After all, what could be more un-plugged than a castle in Ireland?
