A new social network called Twitter.now has taken flight, helmed by a startup called Operation Bluebird, with the brains behind it being former Twitter trademark counsel Stephen Coates. X Corp. sued Operation Bluebird last year, demanding a ban on launching a platform with the Twitter name, but Bluebird argued that X had let go of the Twitter trademarks.
The company is building a service that prioritizes trust, transparency, and user choice, according to Coates. They're using an AI system called VERA that checks claims, provides context, and attaches a trust score to posts. Users can filter posts based on their preferred trust score, aiming to reduce low-trust content.
However, moderation remains a challenge for all social networks, as Twitter has shown. Operation Bluebird plans to use VERA 2.0 to address these issues, allowing users to set their app to only see posts above a certain trust threshold.
The site is currently in testing, with early access costing $20. As more users join, the platform will need to prove its worth not just in terms of innovation but in terms of earning and maintaining user trust.
