The CEO of Larry Page’s flying car company, Pivotal, has left the firm, leaving Pivotal’s future uncertain. Ken Karklin, who has been at the helm for over four years, is now pursuing new ventures, leaving a legacy of advancing the eVTOL industry.

"Leading Pivotal has been the privilege of my career," he said, acknowledging the progress made in bringing the company’s lightweight electric aircraft to the market. The Helix, a single-seat aircraft, is now available for purchase, and Pivotal’s BlackFly, designed for defense and first-responder use, has reportedly outperformed ambulances in a real-world emergency scenario.

"Ken’s leadership has been instrumental in bringing Pivotal to where it is today," said Mike Ross, the interim CEO. Ross, a seasoned aviation executive, hopes to maintain the company’s focus on safety and accessibility as it prepares to launch its fourth-generation Helix.

Pivotal, part of the FAA’s eVTOL Integration Pilot Program, is one of several firms working to integrate electric vertical takeoff and landing vehicles into everyday life. The industry’s progress, from prototypes to real-world applications, is a step towards a future where flying cars may become a reality.
