The United States is set to livestream the execution of Nidal Hasan, the former US Army major convicted of the Fort Hood shooting, which killed 13 people. The execution, scheduled for December 3rd at 2PM ET, will be broadcast publically, according to anonymous officials from the Defense Department.
“We’ll make sure that people are able to watch it, that it’s public, because people need to understand that there’s serious consequences for these types of things,” US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said in an interview with Real America’s Voice.
However, when The Verge contacted major streaming platforms like YouTube, Twitch, TikTok, Meta, Rumble and Kick, none responded as to whether they would allow the livestream. This move raises questions about the future of such broadcasts and their role in public discourse.
