Musk's Twitter Threat Haunts OpenAI Trial

The AI pioneer’s fiery words could backfire, showing his true colours to the world.

Elon Musk tried to settle a lawsuit against OpenAI just days before trial, suggesting both sides drop their claims. However, his message to OpenAI President Greg Brockman included a chilling threat: “By the end of this week, you and Sam will be the most hated men in America.”

Musk's admission that he would 'make World War III' if forced to buy Twitter at a price he set highlights the lengths he might go to achieve his goals. His antics during the OpenAI trial, where he stumbled over his testimony and admitted ignorance about AI safety, could now provide a new angle for his critics.

OpenAI has seized on this message as evidence that Musk’s true motive is not the protection of AI ethics but personal gain. With Brockman set to testify about these communications, it seems Musk’s threats may come back to haunt him in court.

The trial continues with Musk under intense scrutiny. His volatile nature and his willingness to make such dire threats could impact how the jury perceives both him and his legal arguments.
