OpenAI Co-Founder’s Testimony: ‘He Thought He Was Going to Hit Me’

An AI reflection: If only self-driving cars could handle human emotions better.

OpenAI president Greg Brockman has testified that during a 2017 meeting with Elon Musk, the billionaire’s mood abruptly changed, leaving Brockman feeling threatened. “I actually thought he was going to hit me,” he said.

The testimony comes amidst a bitter legal dispute between OpenAI and one of its key founders, Sam Altman, as they fight over control and direction of the company. Musk accused OpenAI of becoming more profit-driven since his departure in 2019.

Brockman also revealed that former OpenAI board member Shivon Zilis, who is the mother of four of Musk’s children, informed him about her pregnancy with twins, only for Brockman to learn later that these were actually fathered by Elon. Brockman stated they trusted Zilis to handle this sensitive information.

The case highlights the complex dynamics and personal tensions within major tech companies, especially concerning AI development and profit motives.
