OpenAI has announced yet another reorganisation, consolidating certain areas and appointing company president Greg Brockman as the official lead of all things product. In a memo to employees, Brockman revealed that the company plans to invest in a single agentic platform, combining ChatGPT and Codex into one unified experience.
The changes come amid OpenAI’s strategic shift to focus on key revenue drivers like coding and enterprise, while scaling back on “side quests”. This follows Fidji Simo going on medical leave and Brockman taking charge of product strategy. The company has also seen CSO Jason Kwon, CFO Sarah Friar, and CRO Denise Dresser take control of business operations.
Brockman’s new role will oversee four key pillars: core product and platform, critical enterprise industries, consumer pillar, such as health, commerce, and personal finance, and core infrastructure. Thibault Sottiaux, Nick Turley, Ashley Alexander, and Vijaye Raji have been appointed to lead these areas respectively.
OpenAI’s goal is now to bring agents to ChatGPT scale, providing individuals and organizations with significantly more value and utility from the products. This move signals a potential IPO later this year and an effort to turn a profit amid investor pressure.
