The Department of Labor’s faith centre director, Kenneth Wolfe, has taken over the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP), leaving many questioning his qualifications to lead an anti-discrimination enforcement body.
Built to oversee around 20% of America's workforce, the OFCCP was a crucial tool in fighting workplace discrimination. Yet under President Trump’s executive orders, it saw significant cuts and now faces elimination from the DOL budget for 'misguided activities.'
With no legal background and only communications experience, Wolfe’s appointment has raised eyebrows. ‘Every prior director had civil rights law expertise,’ a former attorney warned. Now he’ll oversee the agency pushing back against diversity initiatives.
The move comes amid ongoing controversies over workplace worship services, which made DOL employees uncomfortable during work hours. Meanwhile, the DOL is actively promoting Christian rights while planning to dismantle the OFCCP altogether.
