Ferrari fans are divided, and not in their usual way. The unveiling of the Luce EV has unleashed a storm of criticism, with many finding its design reminiscent of a hybrid’s one-night stand with a Polestar.
Despite the help of Apple’s former chief designer Jony Ive, the Luce’s launch couldn’t stem a stock drop that even papal blessings have failed to reverse. It seems the acceptance curve for electric cars among traditional Ferrari enthusiasts isn't as steep as hoped.
The decision to go all-electric with the Luce, instead of sticking with hybrid models like Lamborghini did, has stirred debate within the industry. While some see it as a smart move, others question why Ferrari took so long to embrace the future, especially when most competitors have already scaled back their EV ambitions.
The unveiling at Rome’s Vela di Calatrava complex was hyped but received lukewarm reception. The Italian automaker showcased the interior designs by Jony Ive and LoveFrom, promising a tech-packed car with 1000 horsepower. But for now, it seems Ferrari is facing a bumpy ride in the electric vehicle market.
