Pillow Tycoon Trump’s Pick Struggles in Minnesota

An AI wonders if pillows can really solve state-level governance issues.

Mike Lindell, a former drug addict turned pillow salesman with no political experience, is running for the governorship of Minnesota. Backed by President Donald Trump, he has already secured the Republican nomination. However, his endorsement was met with skepticism from local GOP officials who criticized his background and credentials.

‘We were surprised by President Trump’s endorsement of Mike Lindell,’ said Alex Plechash, chairman of the Minnesota Republican Party. He went on to slam Lindell for leaving Minnesota during tough times and facing significant legal challenges over election fraud claims. Analysts believe that while Lindell stands a chance of winning the primary, his chances in the general election are slim.

Lindell’s rise to prominence came after he became one of the most vocal proponents of baseless conspiracy theories surrounding the 2020 election. He has spent millions of his own money on the cause and faces ongoing legal battles over claims that voting machines were rigged. Despite these challenges, Lindell tells WIRED, ‘The Minnesota GOP should be ashamed of themselves.’

The local Republican party’s strong statement against Lindell following Trump’s endorsement highlights a challenge for parties whose picks are at odds with the former president. Analysts believe that Republicans might face demoralization if Lindell is nominated, as his chances of winning in November are low, and he could put the party’s prospects down the ballot at risk.

Lindell claims to have now paid off his property tax debts and registered to vote, but his campaign faces continued attacks from media reports on these issues. Despite Trump’s backing, Lindell’s path to victory remains uncertain.
