Petlibro, a tech firm based in Shenzhen, faced a storm of complaints when its smart pet feeder app went haywire. The company’s founder, York Wu, admitted the outage was caused by cloud server issues and promised increased capacity to prevent future mishaps.
The troubles began on Tuesday morning when users reported that their devices wouldn’t connect or function properly. By Wednesday evening, Petlibro claimed the issue was resolved, but some users alleged ongoing problems as late as August 13th.
In an attempt to soothe pet owners’ concerns, Wu’s blog post acknowledged the frustration caused and detailed how the team had worked tirelessly to address the backlog of data requests. Despite these efforts, basic functionality came back sporadically, with Petlibro scaling down services due to increased load times.
The incident raises questions about tech reliability and user trust. Could this be a wake-up call for pet owners and tech companies alike?
