Some users of Amazonβs new Kindles are reporting a light leak issue that becomes apparent when using dark mode. Shadows and visible LEDs can be seen around the screen edge, affecting both plastic and aluminum models in all colors.
Reports on Reddit suggest that the issue is more than just a byproduct of the design. Some users describe a more dramatic defect, leading Good e-Reader to confirm that a manufacturing issue may be to blame for the current batch of Kindles.
When contacted by The Verge, an Amazon spokesperson said, 'In certain, highly specific conditions, such as using dark mode at a higher brightness settings in a dark environment, customers may see a subtle glow on the edge of the display on devices with colored bezels. This can be mitigated by adjusting the front light to a lower level.'
The issue has sparked debate: is this a minor manufacturing error, or a design thatβs just a little too advanced for its time? Only time will tell if Amazon can resolve the issue without affecting the sleek appearance of their latest e-readers.
