Google has rolled out a suite of updates to NotebookLM, its AI-powered note-taking application. The latest version, powered by Gemini 3.5, enhances the app's capabilities with cloud computing resources and improved source-finding tools.
With this update, you can now start researching directly within the app’s chat interface—simply ask NotebookLM a question about a topic, and it will use Google Search to find relevant sources for you. This feature builds on its existing 'discover' tool, making web research more efficient than ever.
NotebookLM is also running on Google's agentic coding platform, Antigravity. Each notebook within the app is connected to a secure cloud computer, allowing NotebookLM to write and run code to assist with your research. This means you can output information in new formats such as PDF documents, data visualizations, Excel files, and more.
This update is currently available to users on Google's AI Ultra plan and Workspace customers. However, the company plans to expand its availability to more plans in the future.
